Celebrating LEGOs, science, and inspiration, thirty teams of 6- to 9-year-olds will showcase their creations and robotics skills at Discovery Museum and Planetarium (4450 Park Avenue, Bridgeport) this Sunday, March 15.
Sponsored by Patriot Bank, the expo is open to the public and features half-price admission, a special room for LEGO building, robotics demonstrations, planetarium shows, and children’s activities.
Enthusiastically supported by Girl Scouts of Connecticut and Stamford Robotics, teams of young LEGO builders will display their motorized LEGO creations, present their research journey on a poster, and participate in hands-on activities throughout the museum.
The team expo will culminate with a private award ceremony, honoring all participants and their LEGO-building and robotics achievements. Guest presenters include Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, and Girls Scouts of Connecticut’s Sheryl Sleeva.
The Junior FIRST® LEGO® League was developed to introduce 6- to 9-year-olds (grades K-3) to science concepts and teamwork. Discovery Museum will offer a 4-week series of LEGO WeDo workshops Saturday mornings, April 11 through May 2. Pre-registration is required, via phone (203) 372-3521 x117 or online at www.discoverymuseum.org.
